CHAPLAINCY

The School Chaplain celebrates Mass each school day at 12:15pm. Confession and spiritual direction are available to the students, parents, school staff, alumnae and friends on a regular basis.

 

Spiritual Formation for Students

Holy Mass: Students are highly encouraged to attend Holy Mass daily. Each class is also encouraged to sponsor a Mass of a particular day of the week.

Catechetical Masses: Students in the Primary School attend monthly Catechetical Masses as a way of initiating them into the Church and explaining the different parts of the Mass to them.

First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation: Catholic students in Grade Two are prepared to receive these Sacraments. The students are given catechetical instruction in their Religion classes and their parents are given personal and group orientation through the interview with the Chaplain and special seminar.

Confirmation: Catholic students in Grade Six are prepared to receive this Sacrament. The students receive preparation for Confirmation as part of their Religion classes and their parents are given personal and group orientation through the interview with the Chaplain and special seminar.

Benediction: Benediction is a rite in which Jesus in the Sacrament of His love is not only exposed to the adoration of the faithful, but in which He, present in the Sacrament, is implored to bless the faithful present before the Altar.

Meditation: Meditation is a short moment of mental prayer before the Blessed Sacrament with the help of the Chaplain.

Pilgrimage: A pilgrimage to a Marian shrine is organized for each batch every year.

Seminar-Retreat / Retreat: A 3-day activity is organized for Year III and Year IV students to help them reflect on their everyday life, in the light of basic Christian principles.

Quarterly Convocation: Every quarter, the students of each level gather together to attend a special lecture on a specific school core value (Respect, Responsibility, Concern for Others, and Love for God).

 

Spiritual Formation for Parents

Family Catechesis: Given by the School Chaplain, the Family Catechesis classes are organized to understand better the catechism of the Catholic Church and how it is applied to present day life. It also helps mothers explain the faith better to their children.

  • For mothers and friends (women): 1st and 2nd Tuesday of the month, 8:30a.m., Function Room
  • For fathers and friends (men): every Saturday (PAREF Southridge School)

Theology Classes: Classes are organized for those who wish to become better acquainted with the truths of the Catholic faith.

  • For mothers and friends (women): 1st Thursday of the month, 9:00 a.m., AVR
  • For fathers and friends (men): every Saturday, 2:00p.m. (PAREF Southridge School)

Recollection: This is an activity meant for one to reflect more deeply on the truth of Truth and the practical application to one's life, and the exercise of virtues.

  • For mothers and friends (women): 3rd Thursday of the month, 9:00a.m. and 4th Thursday of the month, 4:30p.m.
  • For fathers and friends (men): 1st Sunday of the month, 9:00a.m., followed by the celebration of the Holy Mass (PAREF Southridge School).
